Looking at the changing rooms, they have been completely redecorated and now all include a mirror - and we've even installed hair driers in one dressing room in both the mens and ladies area.... and when you come out to the pool, a brand new shower area.
We've even tackled the toilets! Redecorated with new, hygenic, flooring; both sets of toilets now have hot water to the washbasins, air fresheners and powerful hand driers. Even the baby changing room has a new, wall-mounted unit for easy use.
Shaftesbury Leisure Pool looks to the community to help run it and would like to hear from anyone who has skills they would like to offer. Some history behind the Pool SHAFTESBURY SWIMMING POOL was the successful winner, in November 2007, of £50,000 from part of a National Lottery Fund called “The People's Millions” run by ITV as part of their 50th Year celebrations. The scheme had been led for the previous two years by the late Councillor Pam Reynolds prior to her sudden tragic death at the end of 2007, with support from Mrs Win Harvey, Jon Brooks, Douglas Lydiate and others. With a large community following the bidding was to raise sufficient money to roof the pool and make other improvements. The aim was to make the facility useable from May to September by people of all ages. Local schools and clubs all expressed an interest in using the pool. Pam Reynolds said before the vote “This is great step towards getting the pool fit for Shaftesbury people and those others from far and wide who come to use it. It is essential that people vote for us. We will be doing our best to remind everyone but we ask that the whole community votes for us on the day”. The Pool is now dedicated to Pam & all the others who helped so tirelessly on it.
